Pre-recording

This process will improve the quality of your work by allowing you to review your work and see how the pieces flow, fit, and reinforce each other. If your first rehearsal were an in-class presentation, it might not be your best work! Recordings also take the stress off when it comes time to present, because you just sit back and watch the tape with the rest of us. And you can easily share it again if you want to. And along the way you’ll learn about some of the capabilities of your Adobe Connect rooms. So I think there’s an upside to the effort, but if there is a compelling reason why your team can’t complete the recording together, the default will be to present live in class.

See the video below for a tutorial on making a recording using your Adobe Connect room.

CAUTION!:

The person who hosts the team’s rehearsal meeting should NOT invite other team members to her Connect room using the “Create Meeting” button the ISVC. If you use the “Create Meeting” button then within 24 hours of creating a recording, 2U will remove the recording file from your personal Adobe Connect Central folder, after which you will not be able to do any post-production or make an offline recording.

Instead, the host should locate her meeting URL by entering her room and choosing Meeting > Manage Access & Entry > Invite Participants.... Team members should join as guests using the URL, because unfortunately you cannot authenticate directly through the Adobe Connect website. If you do create a meeting through the ISVC then you will have 24 hours or less to do editing and make the offline recording.

Be careful to wait a few seconds after pressing the record button. If you start immediately after pressing record the first few seconds of your presentation may be cut off.

Offline recordings is a hack not officially supported by 2U. Thanks for jumping through the loopholes!

The end video also demonstrates how to download source material for the video, which is only intereseting because it separates out your different video feeds (and audio but only if you choose the VOIP computer microphone audio option). You do not need to submit the source folder, but you may be interested in inspecting it. It may or may not surprise you to learn that Adobe keeps the camera rolling even when you pause it in class (yup it’s all there in the source0). The url argument for downloading it is:
